Westco Scientific Instruments, Inc., a leader in design, development and manufacturing of quality precision instrumentation and sample prep equipment, is committed to quality, accuracy and cost effectiveness.
Westco's History
Westco Scientific Instruments, Inc. was formed in 1987 as a manufacturer and supplier of after-market consumables for clinical laboratories. In addition, Westco supplied consumables to a number of analytical instrument manufacturers. Key acquisitions in 1991 expanded Westco's product range to include the industrial and environmental laboratory marketplace as well.
Westco's first instrument products were peripheral products and sample preparation products that were sold on an OEM basis to other analytical instrument manufacturers. Westco would "private label" these products for its partners. Among these products:
With first-hand experience of the complexities inherent in continuous flow analyzers, Westco began work on the first discrete analyzer for environmental and industrial laboratories in 1991. The first revolutionary wet chemistry analyzer since the introduction of the Technicon Auto Analyzer in 1961, the SmartChemâ„¢ 200 was released for production in late 2001.
To better address the throughput needs of smaller laboratories, Westco introduced the SmartChemâ„¢140 in early 2005. With roughly half the sample capacity of the original SmartChem and a slightly slower rate of throughput, the SmartChem 140 brought the same advanced Direct Read technology available on the original SmartChem to a lower price point.
Responding to the needs of the environmental analytical marketplace, Westco is the only manufacturer that offers two different levels of automated discrete analyzers using advanced Direct Read technology.
From sample preparation to analysis, Westco Scientific Instruments provides a complete analytical solution to today's environmental laboratories. This provides Westco the unique ability to provide technical assistance from sampling, through preparation, to final analysis.
