Automated Dissolution Media Preparation and Dispensing
Media Preparation and Delivery System Features: Mobile unit brings media to bath The MDS-600 has 4 heavy duty wheels under the cart to making it mobilethe users are able to wheel the MDS-600 to the dissolution tester todelivery the dissolution media into vessels without removing themthereby reducing accidental breakage. De-aeration per USP guideline As per USP dissolution media de-aeration guideline the dissolutionmedia should be de-aerated before it is filled into the dissolutionvessels. The USP dissolution media degassing methods include: Heating /Stirring / Filtering / Vacuum. Heating method: Done by using an inline heater. The dissolution media heats up to 45C degrees. Stirring method : Done by a high-speed circulation pump. Dissolutionmedia in the reservoir is constantly stirred until air bubbles arepurged. Filtering method: Done by using inline filters on inlet tubing.Dissolution media is filtered through before it goes into themeasurement chambers. Vacuum method: The plungers of a high-taught motor create a powerfulvacuum force to pull the dissolution media through small pre-sizedfilters. Delivery manifold The delivery manifold is designed to fit different brands ofdissolution testers it fit 3 X2 vessels layout as well as 4 X 2vessels layout. Media tank In the passed 30 years until now all the dissolution media are storedin the polyethylene tank. The polyethylene tank is molded which neverleaks. There is no dead corner in the tank and it is lightweight thepolyethylene tank is plastic that never rust neither. LoganInstruments" MDS-600 is using polyethylene tank as per all thecustomers requested. Self-Checking system As soon as turn on the MDS-600 the CPU sends 5V to the main board totest all the output port. If the system passed the self-checking itwill go into delivery mode. If any defect accrued the MDS-600 willreport the malfunction by a long beep. Volume setting There are 5 media transfer volumes can be preset on the MDS-600 frontpanel there 250 500 750 900 and 1000 ml. If users request differentvolumes Logan technicians able to re-set the volumes. The volumedetection is by optical sensor all six measurement chambers works atthe same time to make sure all the volume are the same. One adjustmentfor all 6 measurement chamber the volume accuracy is within 2% formedia transfer under 500 ml and better than 1% for the transfer mediaabove 500ml. Calibration USP dissolution test guideline mentioned the volume of dissolutionmedia also mentioned test temperature at 37 degree C. Some labsprepared the media in the room temperature and then fill into vesselsto heat up the 37 C but the media volume changed due to increase ofthe temperature. The MDS-600 solved this problem by calibrated transferby weight. The media heated to 37.5 +/_ .5 degree and then weight itis to insure the volume of dissolution media are within USP guidelines. Surfactant media The media creates bobbles are the most difficult to handle the eyeballmeasurement never right. The MDS-600 has the special design that ableto transfer the media into measurement chamber without bobbles thiswill give the even surfactant in all 6 vessels. Filling system There are 2 methods to fill the media into MDS-600 Manual fill: The pre-mix the media can be fill in by gravity or userable to fill in the ID water from the inlet source. The media can beprepare in the tank the circulation pump will do the mixing. Auto fill: The MDS-600 has a automated fill pump the users able tofill the MDS-600 media tank by press a switch. When the CPU detectedthe high level it will shut off the fill pump automatically. High speed circulation system The high speed circulation is apart of de-aeration the media push intoa special designed heating chamber where perform the boiling. Afterboiling the media comes back to the tank to cool down the temperature Timer: Each MDS-600 has a timer which able to program up till 99 hours. Thetimer is to start the de-aeration automatically the user able to fillin the media at the end of the day and set in the timer mode to startthe de-aeration hours before he/she come in to work. The media would bepre-heat and degassed for the dissolution. High and low liquid level with audible warning and safety shutoff: The MDS-600 media tank has a 15 Gal capacity with an audible warningalarm (Auto fill mote) when the media reaches its full capacity. Thelow level safety shutoff switch turns off the heater and circulatorwhen the media nears it also provides the audible warning. Automatic media discharge: All media can be automatic discharge when to change the media or whento clean the tank just by switch the valve to waste position all themedia in the tank will be pump out. The pump will be automatic shut-offwhen the tank become . Description: Normally to prepare the dissolution media is a tedious job: The mediamust be pre-mix in a polyethylene tank and then transfer into a smallerglass flask for degassing. After de-aerated the media it has to fillinto a volumetric cylinder to measure the correct volume before fillinto dissolution vessel. After filled media into the vessels it has towait for hours before media reaches to 37 degree C for the dissolutiontest. Such long process will took around 2 hours not only that themedia volume must be controlled well otherwise the uneven media volumewould make the different % dissolving. The Logan MDS-600 Media Delivery System is designed to simplify suchtedious process user able to precise delivery pre-heat de-aeratedmedia into 6 dissolution vessels simultaneously within 2 minute. Specification: Electrical Rating 240 VAC 5 AMP 50/60 Hz or 120 VAC 10 AMP 50/60 Hz Media Delivery Fill six dissolution test vessels simultaneously Preset Volume 250 500 750 900 or 1000 ml Filling Accuracy 1% of 500 - 1000 ml 2% of 250ml Degasing By vacuum heat and high speed circulation Temperature Range 25 C - 45 C Temperature Accuracy 0.2% Reservoir Tank Size 5 gal 10 gal or 15 gal (user option) Delivery Cycle Max volume (1000 ml) within 2 minutes Optional 5 gal rinse tank (for changing media) single delivery nozzle |
